Fillings
Nearly everyone experiences tooth decay at some point in life. When decay is neglected, it can lead to pain or tooth loss. Placing tooth color fillings will preserve your healthy smile by removing all decay, then restoring the tooth to its natural shape and function. Composite fillings are custom made to the exact color of your natural teeth, creating a more natural appearance. If decay or a fracture has damaged a large portion of the tooth, a crown (or “cap”) may be recommended.
Crown & Bridge
When your tooth is cracked or otherwise damaged, an artificial cap, or crown, can be used to restore the shape, size and function of the tooth. This procedure maintains your beautiful smile and also protects the tooth from further damage. When a tooth is completely missing, an artificial tooth is connected to the adjacent teeth, called a bridge, can be placed. This fits the space and restores the appearance and function. A crown not only strengthens a tooth, but it can dramatically improve a tooth’s appearance, shape and alignment. Crowns may be used to replace a large filling when there is little tooth structure remaining, protect a tooth from fracturing, cover a dental implant, cover a tooth that has had root canal treatment. A bridge one option to fill the space created by missing teeth. A bridge is one or more artificial teeth cemented into place using the teeth on either side for support. This is an option for filling the space created by a missing tooth.
Tooth extractions
It is not uncommon that a tooth cannot be repaired and needs to be removed. A tooth may require extraction if it has severe decay, it is fractured, has advanced periodontal disease, or it has active infection. Often teeth are extracted when are malpositioned, impacted or for orthodontic treatment. If your tooth requires an extraction, at Pinnacle Dentistry we will remove it painlessly and we will also offer several options for replacing that missing tooth. Once a tooth is removed, it is important to consider replacing it as soon as possible. If the space is not filled, the surrounding teeth may drift and shift and possibly result in problems with your bite, gum and bone support, TMJ pain and even how you look.
